1402 Error
The 1402 error is a common error in Windows. Normally the reason you get this error is either missing system files, wrong system settings or corrupted registry files. It can happen in any of the Microsoft Operating Systems when trying to load any type of software. The registry in Windows is a hierarchical database that houses configuration settings and operating system options. The settings for low level system components and applications running on the platform are stored in the registry. This file is also used as a way to access counters for profiling the performance of the system.
Trying to fix these types of errors manually is very difficult. You will find it challenging if you are the type of person who loves to debug problems yourself. Most of us just want the problem fixed now so we can continue on with our business. Well there is good news for those people.
There are several free downloads available as registry cleaning tools. They are all simple to use usually just three or four clicks of your mouse and your problems are fixed. And if you are using the Windows 98 or Windows ME Operating Systems they come with a tool to scan and repair registry problems. It called Registry Checker and can be found under the Accessories tab of the Programs menu.
This error can come up when trying to install different kinds of software. The wording following the error code will vary from product to product but in each case the error will be related to the registry files.

The 1402 error is not uncommon to many Windows users. It's a matter of knowing who to contact when you receive them. Usually contacting the online help is not going to be very helpful because their suggestions are very technical and if you are not a technical person it can get frustrating very quickly. The best idea is to find a PC Help forum online and post your question. This way you will usually find someone who has come across the same problem and will be able to give you advice in words that will be understandable. Or better yet they will give you step by step directions of how to correct a problem.
